Smart Resume Writing

At the resume website I chose to look at the article dealing with job hopping. I never knew that the more jobs you have the less reliable or loyal you look to a hiring manager. The article dealing with job hopping explains great ways to make your resume look like u are more qualified. Some of the tips they gave were not bulleting your jobs. Instead of listing every job it is a better idea to give a summary or collecetion of the skills you picked up at each job. When you are creating the summary it is important to make connections between each skill to create a story. Another way to explain your many jobs, if this pertains to you, is to describe if there was a merging between companies where your current job changed names. This shows the hiring manager that you were loyal to your past companies and that you did not switch a job. Job hopping does slow the search process down, but if you have the right ideas on how to persuade and represent yourself acurately there is nothing to worry about.

What to Do at An Interview

The web sites we looked at with different articles on, things to do and not do at a job interview was very interesting. Looking at the different tips while conducting a phone interview and improving your chances of getting a job over the phone was really informing. Another one that I thought was really interesting and I personally think every manager should use when hiring someone is the personality test. I can imagine that if there is not in indepth interview witht he future employee then the manager would not be able to find out who the person is that they want for the job. All managers might see is that at an interview most candidates put on a front of what they think will come across as acceptable to get the job. I am not saying that trying to make yourself like your hopeful future employees is bad, i just think that a personality test make help make sure employees get along and work better together than employees that have no idea whats going on in each others live. The last article I read shocked me the most. The article explained how some people lie about being married and even take off their wedding rings before they go to the interview. I never knew that being married would make you less able to get a job. So many things can make or break you in the midst of finding a job and these aticles are very informative and helpful for my future.

Text Is Not Linear!

2.0
The title of the movie i just watched is Text Is Linear, I think that is very clever because text isn't linear unless it is typed on a computer. Web 2.0 in the movie is good for someone entering the workforce because it shows them how to write a program. In the movie they were showing us how different commands such a and how it could do different things in there program. At the end of the blog is says, " we will have to rethink everything." In my opinion i think that means that the world is always changing and that each program gets changed everyday and to keep up in the work force people will have to think out of the box and differently everyday.
